Jimmy Carter’s grandson has come out with an update on his grandfather’s condition nearly a year and a half after he entered hospice care… and it confirms what we suspected. God bless, Jimmy.
Despite being in hospice, former president Jimmy Carter found the strength to attend the funeral and memorial service of his beloved wife, Rosalynn Carter. Rosalynn, who had been married to Jimmy for 77 years, passed away at the age of 96 on November 19, 2023.
During the last moments of her prosperous life, Jimmy stood beside his wife. His son mentioned that he requested a moment alone with her, allowing them to converse while their beds were positioned side by side.
The funeral service was held at Maranatha Baptist Church, where Jimmy Carter and the former first lady worshipped. Earlier tributes were held in nearby Americus and in Atlanta.
Jimmy arrived in a wheelchair, wearing a black suit and a blanket bearing his and Rosalynn’s faces in her honor.
Sadly, Jimmy’s health is getting worse. His grandson, Jason Carter, shared that the former President’s condition is declining and he may not have much time left.
Rosalynn Carter was the main influence in her husband’s life for more than seventy years.
They were by each other’s side through thick and thin.
Jimmy Carter expressed his deep admiration for Rosalynn, his late wife, by stating, “Rosalynn was my equal partner in all my achievements. She provided me with valuable advice and motivation whenever I required it. As long as Rosalynn was alive, I felt loved and supported by someone.”
Unfortunately, since Rosalynn has passed away, most people agree that Jimmy’s condition may deteriorate significantly.
Jimmy’s grandson informed the New York Post before Rosalynn’s memorial service that he is nearing the end and his physical condition has significantly deteriorated.
He has been a source of strength for many, but she was his rock.
Amy Carter, the daughter of Rosalynn and Jimmy, read a letter written by her father while he was serving in the Navy during Rosalynn’s memorial service.
He wrote, “Whenever I’ve been apart from you, my love, I’ve always been filled with joy upon my return, realizing how amazing you truly are. Every time I lay my eyes on you, I fall in love all over again.”
The love story of Jimmy and Rosalynn resembled a fairy tale.
From 1977 to 1981, while serving as president, Jimmy Carter expressed to his aides that Rosalynn, his wife, was his closest companion. He considered her to be an ideal reflection of himself and believed that she held the most significant influence over his life.
Roselynn served as more than just a First Lady; she was her husband’s most trusted advisor, standing by his side and supporting every decision he made as the leader of the nation.
After departing from the White House, the Carters went back to their family home in Plains, Georgia. The house, valued at $209,996 according to Zillow, was constructed in 1961 when the Carters had their fourth child and required a larger space. The couple consistently lived a peaceful and modest life.
Earlier this year, the Carter family shared that Rosalynn had been diagnosed with dementia. Soon after, she went into hospice care and spent her final days with her family and devoted husband. She could hardly walk and relied on a walker, and her health deteriorated greatly.
Jason, Jimmy’s grandson, provided an update on his grandfather during his speech at the 28th Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum on Tuesday. He mentioned that his grandfather is doing fine and has been in hospice for about a year and a half. Jason believes that his grandfather is nearing the end of his journey, and there is a significant aspect of faith that is crucial to him during this time. He believes that his grandfather has reached that stage in his faith journey.
Jason shared at the forum that his grandmother’s death was hard for everyone, including his grandfather.
The love and support we got from everyone here and around the globe made this experience truly special and turned it into a joyful celebration for our family.
During the mental health forum, Jason recalled a chat he had with his grandfather a couple of weeks ago while they were watching an Atlanta Braves game side by side.
Jason recalled how people would often inquire about his well-being, to which he would respond, “I have no idea.” In turn, the person he was speaking to would reply, “Well, I am unsure myself.”
